Nunukan Regency in North Kalimantan, Indonesia, has emerged as a major producer of oil palm cake, a by-product of palm kernel processing used as animal feed. The region has exported 3,000 tons of the cake to Gresik, East Java, with a reported economic value of IDR 3 billion. The agricultural quarantine in Tarakan ensures the product is free from pests before export. In 2019, the cake was also exported to Vietnam, and since January 2020, it has been sold domestically within Indonesia.
