The first harvest was made for the "golden orange" grown for trial purposes in İzmir, Turkey

İZMİR (AA) - HALİL ŞAHİN - The first crop was obtained in the trial production of kumquat, also known as "golden orange", whose homeland is East Asia and China. With the aim of turning kumquat, which is mainly produced in the Mediterranean Region in Turkey, and grown in pots and hobby gardens in Izmir, an important commercial product in the Aegean Region, trial production was carried out with 400 trees on a 5 decare land in the district of Seferihisar. 1500 kilograms of product was obtained from the trees planted about 15 months ago. It was stated that although they are still small, the productivity of the trees is high and the amount of fruit to be taken when they mature is expected to increase to 8 tons.
