Over the past five years, the agro-industrial complex of Mordovia has grown by 61 percent, and the food and processing industries by 55 percent. At the same time, the republic is actively working on reducing the import dependence of farmers: last year, the share of domestically bred seeds in the sowing of grains and legumes amounted to 81 percent, in the sowing of oilseed crops – 75 percent, and in the sowing of potatoes and vegetable crops – 50 percent. These figures were mentioned by the head of the Republic of Mordovia, Artem Zdunov, at a meeting of the council on issues of the agro-industrial complex and natural resource use under the Federation Council.
