The July heat did not break the price trend of the EU dairy market

According to preliminary data from the European Commission, in July the average price of raw milk in the EU was 44.12 euro cents per kg, which is 0.54% less than in June and 15.78% less compared to July last year. In Ukraine, raw milk cost an average of 32.4 euro cents per kg, which is 36% less than in the EU. But if we pay attention to individual EU member states, the situation on the dairy market in Europe was rather ambiguous. Under the influence of the record heat, which led to the reduction of water resources, pastures and lactation in cows, milk production decreased in certain EU member states. In the conditions of a limited supply of raw materials for processing enterprises, there was an increase in purchase prices for raw milk in such countries as Spain (+13.3%), Croatia (+17%), Portugal (+17%), Italy (+6.6%) , France (1.12%) or Cyprus (+10%), compared to July 2022.
