The market for deep grain processing in Russia decreased slightly in the first half of 2023

The production of highly processed grain products in the first half of 2023 showed a slight decrease; imports and exports also decreased, which is associated with the restructuring of the industry and focus on new markets. This was reported by the Association of Advanced Grain Processing Enterprises. According to the association, in January-June 2023, the production of native (unmodified) starches decreased by 6%, to 191.5 thousand tons. For the same period in 2022, production reached 203.3 thousand tons. In particular, the production of wheat starch decreased by 3% (to 24.8 thousand tons), corn starch - by 6% (to 161 thousand tons). The production of potato starch fell the most - by 19% (to 5.6 thousand tons in volume terms). The volumes of import and export of all types of starch have decreased significantly.
