Farmers in Magway Region, Myanmar, have shifted their focus to cultivating fried potatoes due to its stronger market demand over edible potatoes. They have allocated 30 acres of land for this purpose, as they have experienced higher prices for fried potatoes in the past. Additionally, the cold variety of potatoes they grow ensures a higher yield and germination rate, without the need for refrigeration. Despite the higher cost of fried potatoes, the yield and consistency make it a more profitable crop. These fried potatoes are then exported to other regions for processing.
