The bird flu from a few months ago has wreaked havoc in the farms. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is lifting, as of today, April 16, throughout Spain, the confinement measures for poultry as a consequence of avian influenza, which were still in place in wetlands and those municipalities considered to be at higher risk. The new measure is adopted given the good evolution of the epidemiological situation of the disease in recent weeks. The Official State Gazette (BOE) publishes today the ministerial order. The ministry points out that, as a precaution, biosecurity measures must be maintained in poultry farms to avoid contact with wild birds, as well as to reinforce passive surveillance, both in these and in poultry farms. In this regard, it is urged that in the event of any suspicion of disease, especially in domestic birds, the pertinent notification be made to the official veterinary services.
