Poland: The results of ad-hoc quality inspections of cherries and plums available for sale in wholesale markets nationwide

Inspections were aimed in particular at verifying and eliminating practices causing infringement of commercial quality regulations due to untrue data on origin. During the inspection, the commercial quality of cherries marketed by 23 entities (26 lots with a total weight of 3,631 kg) and the commercial quality of plums marketed by 8 entities (10 lots with a total weight of 1,310 kg) were checked. The cherries came from Poland, Greece, Spain and Hungary, while the plums came from Spain and Turkey. The commercial quality of 57.7% of the inspected lots of cherries (80.6% by weight) and 30.0% of the inspected lots of plums (32.1% by weight) was questioned.
