The Indonesian Wheat Flour Producers Association (Aptindo) has reported a significant surge in wheat consumption in Indonesia, with a 4.6% increase in 2021 compared to the previous year. This growth is attributed to a recovering economy and the rise of the bakery industry. As a result, wheat imports are projected to rise to 10.6 million tons in the 2021-2022 fiscal year, a 2% increase from the initial USDA projection. Despite this, domestic wheat demand in January 2022 fell 2% compared to the same period in 2021.
