A study conducted by Rusid breeding and seed company and Pole.RF magazine for farmers reveals a significant increase in the use of domestically bred agricultural crop seeds in Russia's agro-industrial complex by 2024. The most notable increases were seen in soybeans, sunflowers, and corn, with local seeds becoming the dominant choice in many regions. This surge is largely attributed to active government support, including import quotas, and the development of modern infrastructure for selection and seed production. The study also highlights a notable decrease in the import of corn, sunflower, and potato seeds, indicating a growing preference for domestic seeds and a move towards increasing self-sufficiency in agriculture.
