Frost damage in Manisa's vineyards has severely affected 85% of Turkey's grape production. The incident, which occurred on 25-27 March, has led to a significant loss of grapes in the districts of Yunusemre, Şehzadeler, Alaşehir, Salihli, and Sarıgöl. The Sarıgöl Chamber of Agriculture has declared the frost a disaster, anticipating a decrease in table grape yield and a potential increase in domestic market prices. CHP Manisa Deputies Ahmet Vehbi Bakırlıoğlu and Bekir Başevirgen are calling for debt restructuring and low-interest loans for affected producers to maintain their vineyards. The lack of agricultural insurance and the financial strain of the producers, many of whom owe to private banks, are key concerns.
