In 2021, the Mexicali Valley in Baja California, Mexico, exported 62,627 tons of six different forages to the United States, primarily to California, through 18 agricultural companies. Alfalfa was the most exported forage, accounting for 43.9% of the total, with an economic benefit of $96 million pesos. Other exports included sudan hay, wheat straw, corn straw, oat hay, and bermudagrass hay. These exports were facilitated by the State Representation of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development in Baja California, issuing 3,062 certificates of non-grazing to the trading companies.
