The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has opened a dairy production facility in Lebanon, in collaboration with the 'Lebanese Northern Workers' Union' in Halba, Akkar province. The facility will produce dairy products such as cheese, yoghurt, labneh, butter, and buttermilk, and will primarily employ women. The project is aimed at stimulating agriculture, animal husbandry, and economy in the region, and is part of TİKA's 'Rural Development and Production Revitalization Program'. The products will be produced from raw milk obtained from local small and medium-sized producers, and the Women's Union aims to create a national brand with these products. This comes amidst Lebanon's worst economic crisis since the 1975-1990 civil war.
