Due to a landslide, the Pan-American highway between Cauca and Nariño, Colombia, has been blocked, leading to a shortage of animal feed. In response, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) have permitted the importation of animal feed from Ecuador without certain requirements to prevent losses for producers. The government is also seeking alternatives for transporting agricultural products and is considering measures to reduce high freight costs. Additionally, the Ministry is considering allowing the transport of up to 10 tons of agricultural products on roads with time and direction restrictions, and has discussed relief options for producers with debt.
