A recent survey by the Agricultural Defense Agency of Tocantins (Adapec) has shown that the state's cattle and buffalo herd has been vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease at a rate of 98.75%, surpassing the government's target of 90%. This successful campaign, which saw all ages of cattle being vaccinated, was widely supported by rural producers and saw all municipalities achieving a vaccination rate of over 90%, with 22 achieving 100%. In 2023, the focus will shift to herd surveillance, with producers required to declare their herd to Adapec in May and November for health control purposes.
