Turkey has been the leader in agricultural output in Europe and the world for the past decade, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. In the 2005-2019 period, the country ranked 7th globally with an increase in agricultural output by 20% last year, reaching 333.3 billion liras. Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a 7% increase in crop production, with Turkey leading in the world production of hazelnut, cherry, fig, apricot, quince, and poppy, among other significant productions. The country also ranks highly in the production of various other crops and exports a wide range of agricultural products to 205 countries, generating $20.7 billion in revenue.
