The chestnut, with a price range of 200 to 500 lira, has become a favorite, especially for buyers from Istanbul, Bursa, and Ankara. In the district, the chestnut market, set up with the first light of the day, saw great interest this season as every year. Citizens from all over the country come to Alaplı, starting from 04.00 in the morning, and bargain fiercely at the roadside stalls to buy their products. The chestnuts, collected naturally by villagers in the Alaplı-Yığılca mountains, are sold in the market set up at the Kılburnu site. This year, the chestnuts, which vary in size, are sold at prices ranging from 200 to 500 lira, turning the region into Turkey's "chestnut exchange."
