Turkish fishermen will be fishing for 2,600 tons of bluefin tuna in the Mediterranean and near Malta from May 15 to July 1, adhering to the international conservation rules set by the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT). The fishing will be conducted by 76 fishing vessels, with 29 of these vessels specifically for catching the tuna. The caught tuna will be transported to cages for aquaculture and farmed before export. Turkey's annual revenue from bluefin tuna export, primarily to the USA and the Far East, especially Japan, is approximately 70 million dollars.
