Turmeric harvesting for the food and pharmaceutical industry was carried out in Milas, Muğla, Turkey, as part of a project aimed at cultivating high-added value vegetables, with support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The producer, Adnan Akar, received turmeric rhizomes and successfully grew them, with positive results and a yield of 10 rhizomes from one. The harvesting was celebrated with Barış Saylak, the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, who emphasized the potential for increasing social welfare for producers by growing such crops. The project also aims to reduce dependency on foreign imports and increase the value of agricultural products through branding and processing.
