UK imports and exports of pig meat saw a significant decrease in January compared to the previous month and year, according to the latest trade figures from HMRC. Total imports were down by 24.1% compared to January 2022, with the Netherlands and Germany seeing the largest drops in imports, while Denmark, Ireland, and Belgium experienced growth. Exports also saw a 20% decrease compared to December and a 21% decrease compared to January 2022, with China, Ireland, and France experiencing the largest drops. All product categories saw a decline in export volumes between December and January, except for fresh/frozen pork which saw a marginal increase. Year on year, all product categories except fresh/frozen pork saw volume growth in exports.
