In 2024, Ukraine has seen a significant increase in the export of deep-frozen vegetables, with the first quarter alone doubling exports from the previous year to 2.2 thousand tons, generating over $2.7 million in revenue. The main exports included frozen cauliflower, broccoli, and sweet corn, with the main buyers being Germany, Israel, Belgium, Italy, Poland, France, and Romania. This growth is attributed to the development of berry cultivation and the subsequent investment in freezing technology. However, Ukraine still imports more frozen vegetables than it exports and needs to improve product quality and expand product range, particularly in the freezing of sweet peppers, vegetable mixtures, and herbs.
