(Ulsan=Yonhap News) Reporter Jang Young-eun = Ulju-gun has developed and begun selling representative foods for the Namchang Onggi Jonggi Market, one of the region's traditional markets.
Ulju-gun developed 'Meat Hotteok' and 'Corn Donuts' as the market's representative foods through a 'Traditional Market Revitalization Representative Food Development Project', utilizing local agricultural and specialty products.
The Meat Hotteok features a crispy exterior and moist dough filled with plenty of meat filling seasoned to be sweet and savory. The Corn Donut is a snack that blends the nutty and sweet flavors of corn.
Ulju-gun successfully held a food tasting event for the traditional market's representative foods at Namchang Onggi Jonggi Market on the 19th.
One visitor said, "The Meat Hotteok is completely different from traditional hotteok with a new taste, and the Corn Donut is perfect for eating with children, which was very satisfying" and added, "I want to visit the market frequently in the future."
Ulju-gun selected local residents through a public contest to operate Meat Hotteok and Corn Donut sales booths at the market's food stalls and has begun full-scale regular sales.
Namchang Onggi Jonggi Market is an eight-day market held on the 3rd and 8th of each month.
A Ulju-gun official said on the 21st, "We hope the newly developed Meat Hotteok and Corn Donuts will become new attractions for Namchang Onggi Jonggi Market and have a positive effect on revitalizing market commerce."
