U.S. almond production could increase by 10%, causing a major shift in export patterns!

According to German media Mundus Agri, the latest almond production forecast for 2025 by the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) has been increased by 7% compared to the data released in May, but industry insiders believe the estimate is overly optimistic. Since the start of the 2024/25 season, U.S. almond exports have declined slightly year-on-year, but India has replaced China as its largest overseas market. The market had originally hoped that the official production estimate would provide clearer guidance, but the latest data has instead increased uncertainty. NASS's objective forecast in July showed that almond production is expected to reach 3 billion pounds (about 136.1 million tons), up about 7% from the 2.8 billion pounds (127 million tons) predicted by experts in May. This means that the 2025 production is expected to be the second-highest in history, only behind the 2020/21 production season, with an increase of nearly 10% compared to last year. ...
