The European Union's (EU) lemon harvest for the 2020-2021 season is projected to increase by 11.7% to 40.2 million boxes. The majority of the production will be from Spain, followed by Italy, Greece, Portugal, and Cyprus. The EU is a net importer of lemons and the 2019-2020 imports increased by 5.5% to 14.1 million cases. The main suppliers were South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, and Turkey. In the previous season, EU lemon exports to the United States fell by 86% due to US tariffs related to a WTO case against EU aircraft subsidies.
