The USDA has reported a 24% decrease in active African swine fever outbreaks in Romania since last year, with a total of 401 active outbreaks, including 14 on commercial farms as of mid-March 2021. Despite this overall decrease, the number of outbreaks on commercial farms has increased compared to last year. The Romanian government is considering a draft PSA surveillance and control action plan, as the disease continues to impact pork production, carcass destination, and disinfection expenses, particularly in large pig farms.
