Uzbekistan: Expensive pomegranate and lack of exports in the first month of the season

In previous years, in the first ten days of September, the export season of Uzbek pomegranate entered the active phase. However, the current season is radically different from previous ones, the main reason for this is the low harvest and, as a result, high prices due to January frosts. The abnormal cold observed in Uzbekistan in the second ten days of January this year caused enormous damage to the pomegranate harvest, EastFruit reports. This season, the harvest of early pomegranate varieties started in the second ten days of August, and producers shipped the first small batches of these products at prices of 30,000 sum/kg ($2.5).
