Asparagus and onions were the leaders, accounting for almost one third of the total vegetable cultivation area. In conventional cultivation, lettuce, carrots, and white cabbage were also at the forefront. The organic cultivation area increased by about six percent compared to the previous year, so that 15.6 percent of the vegetable cultivation area was managed organically in 2025. In terms of cultivation area, carrots are the most important crop in organic farming. Regarding the organic share, pumpkins are in the lead. More than 38 percent of the total pumpkin cultivation area in Germany is managed organically.
