Vietnam's dragon fruit exports have seen a significant decrease of nearly half since 2020 due to reduced demand from China, as the country has been rapidly developing its domestic cultivation. However, exports to the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Australia, and India have surged, with Germany and the UK seeing the largest increases. The head of a fruit export company in Ho Chi Minh City expects export revenue to rise in the second half of the year due to the growing popularity of Vietnamese dragon fruit in these markets and a consistent crop size. The high prices in Vietnam are due to the high demand and limited global supply, as Mexico and South American countries have experienced poor harvests due to the El Niño phenomenon.
