Vietnam's rice production industry contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, and steps need to be taken to transform it towards sustainability. The priorities for the industry until 2030 include reorganizing production for farmers, implementing sustainable farming techniques, investing in infrastructure and irrigation, encouraging mechanization and processing, and promoting the circular economy. By addressing these challenges, the potential for greenhouse gas emission reduction in the Mekong Delta alone can reach 8-12 million tons of CO2e per year, benefiting rice-growing households and reducing environmental pollution.
