Despite challenges from natural disasters and the pandemic, the country saw positive growth in rice exports and prices reaching a decade high. In 2020, rice exports experienced significant growth in value to Indonesia and China, with the Philippines being the largest market. As of January 2021, rice prices remained stable and the Vietnam Food Association anticipates positive trends in rice exports for 2021. The total export value of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products in 2020 was 41.36 billion USD, with a 2.9% increase from the previous year, and in January 2021, the estimated export value was 3.49 billion USD, marking a 27.1% increase over the same period in 2020.
