Prices of vegetables are increasing following a disaster in July and August, with some varieties becoming scarce and driving up costs. The recovery is aided by dropping temperatures, particularly in the north. Tomato prices remain stable, while summer fruits like nectarines, peaches, and grapes are in high demand and command high prices. The end of the nectarine season is expected to come sooner this year. The market is in a transition period between summer fruits and apples and pears. Demand for good quality grapes is high, with the Luisa variety selling well. In Florence, there is less production of greens, but prices are good, with the Gentile variety costing around 1.70. However, tomato prices are low and the market is dirty with cheap prices from Holland.
