Climate change-induced severe droughts have significantly impacted Iran's agricultural sector, particularly reducing pistachio production and exports. The country has seen a dramatic drop in pistachio exports in the current Iranian calendar year, with figures plummeting to just over 46,000 tons from the previous year's 135,322 tons and marking a substantial decline from the 2020/2021 period when 203,637 tons were exported. This decline is largely attributed to the adverse effects of droughts on pistachio production.
