Indonesia has seen a 2.13% increase in swallow's nest exports during the Covid-19 pandemic, reaching 1,155 tons valued at IDR 28.9 trillion (approximately US$2.02 billion) in 2020, as reported by the Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo. China was the largest buyer, accounting for 23% of the total exports. The Ministry of Agriculture is responsible for the productivity of swallow birds, while Barantan aids in export assistance and technical guidance for sanitation and food safety. There are 23 countries importing Indonesian swallow nests, including Australia, the US, and Singapore, each with specific export protocols.
