The article reports on the commencement of the apricot harvest season in Iğdır, Turkey, often referred to as the region's Cukurova of the East. With a total of 414,320 apricot trees covering 39,805 decares, the region is expected to produce around 43,000 tons of fresh apricots from 286,790 trees. The main varieties grown are Şalak, Teberze, and Ordubat. The Iğdır Chamber of Commerce and Industry is working to further promote and export the geographically indicated Iğdır Şekerpare and Şalak apricot varieties. The harvest has attracted labor force reinforcements from other provinces due to the intensive and time-limited nature of the work.
