The State Fund of Agriculture authorized nearly USD 44.25M (BGN 79M) for production-related support for fruits and vegetables, such as melons and watermelons. The subsidies were received by 12,470 farmers.

The Moroccan Melon Exports Well to Spain (Mar 27)
In 2022, Spain imported 79.72M kg of melon from other countries, a decrease of 18.37M kg compared to the previous year. The value of melons imports in Spain during 2022 amounted to USD 71.9M (EUR 65.68M), with an average price of USD 0.90/kg (EUR 0.82/kg). Brazil was the biggest seller of melons to Spain, with a market share of 70.45%, or 56.16M kg, worth USD 49.5M (EUR 45.22M) and an average price of USD 0.88/kg (EUR 0.8/kg).

Prices With a Slight Increase in the Fields of Brazil Mark the Last Week of March (Mar 31)
March had slightly higher prices in watermelon farms in São Paulo and Teixeira de Freitas (BA). The demand is lower than expected since the economic power is restricted compared to the end of the month. Thus, even though the offer is not at high levels, prices fell in the second half of March, closing the big watermelon (>12 kg) at USD 0.24/kg (BRL 1.22/kg) in fields in Bahia, an increase of 7.7% and USD 0.24/kg (BRL 1.24/kg) in São Paulo.

The Farmer's Syndicate of Egypt reported that the watermelons in the markets are safe and healthy, pointing out that Egyptian watermelon crops are characterized by high quality, and the early appearance of the watermelons is due to early-planting dates.
