Major producing areas for sweet potatoes are mostly centralized in Asia, which had a 64.4% share in 2019, as per FAO statistics. This was followed by Africa, with a 30.4% share, the Americas with a 4.2% share, and Oceania with 1%. In terms of export, The US has ranked as the top exporter particularly for the tuber, with an export value of USD 188.3 million in 2019. Export value has seen an increase of 7% over 2015-19 on average but has dropped abruptly by a 2% from 2018-19 due to decreased demand.
