Silkworm breeding, which was started by two families in Karşıyaka District of Sason district in 2010 as an alternative to tobacco in Batman, became widespread day by day and became a source of livelihood for 127 families in the district this year. Batman Cocoon Producers Association President Mehmet Zülküf Aktaş stated that 127 families engaged in fattening in Sason obtained 6 tons of cocoons in a month, and said that the cocoons they sold for 1 kilogram of 180 TL provided a profit of 1 million TL to 127 families.
