100 thousand tons of Ecuadorian pineapple were exported in 2021

In 2021, 99,940 tons of fresh pineapple fruit for export were certified phytosanitary, in 2,850 shipments to 18 destinations worldwide, where markets such as Chile, the Netherlands, the United States, Argentina, Germany, New Zealand and Russia stand out; as those with the largest amount of fruit shipped, which compared to the data of what was exported in 2020, increased by 17%. The pineapple is also exported in an ornamental or decorative way; its main destination markets being the United States and the Netherlands. At the moment there are established phytosanitary requirements so that fresh pineapple fruit can be exported to 38 different countries. Agrocalidad maintains the registry of 34 pineapple production sites for export, where post-registration controls are carried out to monitor and verify the general phytosanitary conditions of the production sites.
