In December 2022, pig meat imports fell by 10% from November and 8% from the previous year, totaling 801,500 tonnes for 2022, a 9% increase from 2021. The Netherlands and Denmark were the main suppliers. Bacon and sausages saw the biggest growth among import categories. On the other hand, exports of pig meat increased by 1.6% in December and by 7% in 2022, reaching 372,600 tonnes, with the offal category driving the increase. The EU received the majority of these exports, while there was a 14% decrease in exports to China.
