The Egyptian Cabinet has set the guide price for sugar crops for the 2025 season at EGP 2,500 per ton for sugar cane and EGP 2,400 per ton for sugar beets, as welcomed by Hussein Abdel Rahman Abu Saddam, agricultural expert and General Secretary of the Farmers Syndicate. This decision aims to meet farmers' demands and is in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives. The fixed price for sugar cane is expected to encourage farmers to supply more to government factories and reduce the sale of crops to juicers. The move is also predicted to boost sugar beet cultivation, potentially leading to Egypt's self-sufficiency in sugar and reducing the need for sugar imports.
