Turkey: 50 thousand tons of cherry harvest is expected in Afyonkarahisar

Known as the "land of cherry" in Turkey, Afyonkarahisar's yield is estimated to exceed 50 thousand tons due to the absence of seasonal adverse events. This year's yield and prices made the producer smile in sour cherry, which was harvested in July and August in many regions of the city, especially in Sultandağı and Çay districts. Sour cherries, which are purchased in fresh fruit state in the region, are processed as fruit juice, jam, marmalade and frozen food in factories in Afyonkarahisar, Isparta and Bursa. Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Acar told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the first city that comes to mind when sour cherry is mentioned is Afyonkarahisar.
