The 2020 World Food Security and Nutrition Status Report by the FAO highlights the urgent need for improved global food security, with the number of hungry people expected to rise to 840 million by 2030. To address this, the article emphasizes the importance of efficient agricultural practices, focusing on the adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to ensure sustainable, safe, and nutritious food production. GAP is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Turkey, with 26 Control and Certification organizations overseeing its implementation. This initiative not only aims to meet the needs of an increasing population but also to reduce the environmental impact of agriculture, improve social employment, and promote economic development. The article underscores the critical role of water in agriculture and the challenges of water scarcity, advocating for the exploration of water-efficient agricultural techniques. Furthermore, it discusses the economic, social, and environmental benefits of GAP, including increased export opportunities and the creation of added value through training activities.
