In Peru, Minister of Production Ana María Choquehuanca has announced an expected consumption of approximately 8,400 tons of fish and seafood during Holy Week, despite a slight increase in the prices of bonito and parakeet fish due to holiday demand. This seasonal tradition is anticipated to support the livelihoods of 80,000 artisanal fishermen and 30,000 aquaculturists. To ensure the safety and health of hydrobiological products, the ministry is overseeing visits to fishing terminals and coordinating training with the National Fisheries Health Organization (Sanipes). Furthermore, Produce is launching training initiatives for social leaders to encourage fish consumption in soup kitchens, aiming to maintain the tradition and promote healthy eating.
