South Korea has confirmed its ninth case of African swine fever (ASF) of the year at a pig farm in Hwacheon, Gangwon Province. Over 3,500 pigs will be slaughtered, and emergency quarantine measures have been implemented to prevent the disease from spreading. The government is ramping up disinfection efforts and inspections, with the latest outbreak accounting for only 0.03% of the country's total pig population. In India, the ASF outbreak has resulted in the culling of over 21,000 pigs in Mizoram, with the first case reported in February 2021. The disease does not affect humans but is fatal to pigs and poses a severe threat to pigs with a high mortality rate.
