Turkey: 90 million avocado production and 30 million exports are targeted in 2023

It is stated that 70 percent of Turkey's avocado production is made in Alanya district of Antalya, which is a pioneer in tropical fruit production. The production area, which is approximately 40 thousand hectares, is increasing every year. Stating that 70 million avocados were produced in 2022, Avocado Producers Union President Hilmi Sevilgen stated that approximately 80 percent of the realized production is consumed domestically and about 20 percent goes to export. Stating that they exported to 8 countries in October, November and December, Sevilgen said, “We carried out this production on 35-40 thousand hectares. Our production area is expanding day by day. Avocado goes into production 3-4 years later, not the year it is planted.
