Poland has reported several outbreaks of bird flu on poultry farms, raising a total of 650,000 birds, according to the World Organization for Animal Health. The outbreaks, caused by migrating wild birds from Asia, have so far affected five farms, with no human transmission detected. The Polish authorities are taking measures such as destruction of the birds to control the spread, and the OIE has recommended member states to increase biosecurity to limit the spread. So far, about five million birds have been slaughtered.
