The edible oil market is experiencing a slight recovery as Ukraine is now exporting sunflowers via alternative routes, according to Attila Vörös, executive director of the Association of Responsible Food Producers in Hungary. Despite reports of sunflower oil shortages in Europe and the UK, Hungary's domestic market is not facing a systemic lack of the oil. However, prices have increased. The improvement in deliveries from Ukraine, along with forecasts of a good sunflower crop this year (excluding areas affected by drought), are positive developments. However, procurement difficulties persist, and some manufacturers have switched from sunflower oil to other vegetable or animal raw materials like palm oil or pork lard, depending on availability.
