Thailand's Department of Agriculture is developing a new okra variety, KC6203, in response to pest issues and quality concerns, particularly from the Japanese market. This new strain is resistant to yellow leaf vein disease and produces high-quality pods that meet export standards. The Kanchanaburi Agricultural Research and Development Center has conducted trials, finding that KC6203 outperforms other varieties in yield and quality. The department aims to certify this strain as a recommended variety and has already done so on June 26, 2024. The new okra variety, known as 'Okra varieties Kanchanaburi 1', is expected to enhance Thailand's okra production and export competitiveness.
