The Uco Valley, in the province of Mendoza, was shaken at the beginning of this year with the appearance of a focus of Fruit Fly (Ceratitis capitata) in the district La Arboleda, Tupungato department. This led to the declaration of a sanitary emergency by the Service of Agri-Food Health and Quality (Senasa), which, ten months later, was now concluded. It was through resolution 154/2025 of March 10 that, in conjunction with Iscamen (Mendoza's health authority), a control zone of 74.2 kilometers in radius from the site of detection of the pest was established, as well as a series of actions for the collection and burial of fallen fruits nearby, unloading of fruit hosting the Mediterranean fly, and removal of soil under the projection of the tree canopy.
