Ukraine has seen a surge in the popularity of elderberries in the berry market, largely due to the coronavirus pandemic's increased demand for their high vitamin C content. The country exported 7.5 thousand tons of elderberries last year, with Japan and EU countries as the main buyers. Currently, elderberries are mainly wild and collected for about 9 UAH / kg. Farmers, like Roman Potapov, are seeking investors to establish an elderberry processing plant, with potential for industrial cultivation if product prices remain high. Elderberries are used in various products, including medicines, dyes, and food items.
